Division sale spurs data migration for over 100 users into a separate Google Workspace account.
Independent, automated backup for Gmail, Drive, Shared Drives, Calendar and Contacts. If ransomware, a compromised account or a simple mistake wipes out your data, we restore it to the moment before it happened.
Staff used to spot phishing by its mistakes: clumsy grammar, a generic “Dear customer”, a logo that didn’t look right. AI has removed those tells.
Attackers now use generative AI to write fluent, personalised emails. They mention your real suppliers, your current projects and the way your director signs off, and they go out at a scale no human scammer could manage. A follow-up call can come in a cloned voice. Even well-trained staff get caught, because there is nothing wrong left to notice.
Once an attacker has one set of credentials, your Google Workspace is exposed:
This isn’t a big-company problem. In FY2024–25, the Australian Signals Directorate’s ACSC received over 84,700 cybercrime reports, one every six minutes. The average cost per report for a small business rose 14% to $56,600. (ASD Annual Cyber Threat Report 2024–25)
No. This is the most expensive misconception in Google Workspace.
Google, like Microsoft and AWS, works on a Shared Responsibility Model. Google keeps its platform running and your data replicated across its data centres. Protecting that data from deletion, corruption and attack is your responsibility.
Replication is not backup. If a file is encrypted or deleted, Google faithfully copies that change everywhere, within seconds.
The native safety nets have limits:
Ask yourself: how much of our data could we get back tomorrow, from before the attack? On native tools alone, the honest answer is not much.
Backupify keeps an independent copy of your Google Workspace outside Google’s platform. The copy is encrypted, versioned and out of an attacker’s reach.
Automatic, frequent backups. Gmail, Drive, Shared Drives, Calendar and Contacts are backed up automatically up to three times a day. Nobody has to remember to do anything.
Point-in-time recovery. Restore one email, a whole mailbox, an entire Shared Drive or every user in your domain to a chosen date. Folder structures and sharing permissions come back intact, so there’s nothing to rebuild.
Fast, granular restores. Find the exact file, email or folder you need and restore it in a few clicks, straight into the user’s account or downloaded to your device.
Keep former staff data without paying for their licence. Departed employees’ mailboxes and files stay in the backup, so you can deprovision the Google account and stop paying for it.
Security and compliance built in. 256-bit AES encryption in transit and at rest, audit trails of every backup and restore, configurable retention with unlimited storage, and optional archiving with eDiscovery and legal hold for regulated businesses.
AI-powered phishing and account takeover. If an attacker gets in and deletes or corrupts data, restore clean copies from before the compromise.
Ransomware. Roll encrypted files that synced into Drive back to pre-infection versions across every affected user and Shared Drive.
Malicious insiders. A departing employee who deletes files on the way out doesn’t take your data with them.
Human error. Recover an accidental deletion, an overwritten spreadsheet or a Shared Drive removed by mistake in minutes.
Retention gaps. Misconfigured Workspace retention settings no longer mean silent data loss.
Legal and compliance requests. Search, preview and export historical email and files when a lawyer, regulator or auditor asks.

Regular, tested backups are one of the ACSC’s Essential Eight mitigation strategies, an ISO 27001 control (A.8.13) and a standard question on cyber insurance applications. If your insurer asks how you’d recover Workspace data after a ransomware attack, “Google has it” won’t pass.
Reporting stakes are rising too. Australia has introduced mandatory ransomware payment reporting for businesses with turnover over $3 million. The businesses that recover fastest are the ones that can restore their data without negotiating with anyone.
Backup is your last line of defence. For the lines before it, see our Managed Cybersecurity services.
Most businesses don’t know what they could recover until they need to. Talk to us and we’ll tell you where you stand, what a backup would cover and what it costs for your team.
